GreenTracks no longer operates EXCLUSIVELY Peacock Bass fishing trips. But, on many of our trips during low water (July - October), you may have the opportunity to do some sportfishing for peacocks and other interesting species.

Colors like the rainbow, an aggressive feeder and incredible fighter... no wonder Peacock Bass are the top game fish in the Amazon Basin.

The Amazon... the world's mightiest river.....it's a big place, and its remote western sector has traditionally been little visited by any but the most intrepid of explorers. The area is just now opening up to sportfishing...and the Tigre Peacock Bass is the primary quarry.

Our standard Riverboat Expedition program typically travels into areas of pristine rainforest with rivers and cochas (lakes) full of fish. Along with the usual program activities such as rainforest hikes, wildlife viewing, visits to riverside villages, we may have an opportunity to do some sportfishing. So be prepared - bring your fishing gear!

How about this for a day's fishing?...

"One August day, in 6 hours of fly-fishing, I caught 98 Tigre Peacock Bass... and a ton of other fish including large Arowana and really pugnacious Oscar. What a blast! My arm hurt so much... I couldn't cast another fly if I my life depended upon it. I had one run of over 20 casts with a hook-up each time. A day to dream about for years."

Fishing in our region of the Peruvian Amazon is best during low water, a season that runs July through October.
